Hi, there're some plans to have a kinda of RAD in this language? I believe NOMADS is a mixed blessings and curse for ProvideX ... NOMADS is perhaps the most powerful and underrated ProvideX's tool ... but I believe NOMADS lacks of some kind of 'refination' ... a friend who has lot of experience with other graphical languages said of NOMADS: "Looks like if [they] were putting new features as they came, but they never re-defined it from the scracht, to offer a more coherent and refined tool" ... and AFAIK, that's true, from time to time, they (Sage) re-writes some part of NOMADS to be updated with new features, but (until V , the most part of NOMADS remains the same.
I believe the NOMADS' approach can be re-focused, perhaps using an external tool (like Eclipse or Netbeans or wathever) ... but a more transparent installation would be a good point.
Sometimes I have the belief the biggest (and weakest) NOMADS's points are the same: It's written in ProvideX.
But, for me, NOMADS is ProvideX's most valuable tool ...

This is one of the principles behinds the iNomads development being done by BBSysco. It's a complete re-write of Nomads ultimately designed to be portable and web enabled.
It's core design should allow us to easily add new features and controls as we go while maintaining a layer of independence between the code and the GUI display.
Check out the iNomads section in the Joint Development portion of the forum.
As for a panel designer itself, we are looking at a number of options from a Web based tool (preferable) to a rewrite again in BB. Personally we are leaning towards a web based tool -- probably embracing some existing product. |
